Psychiatric and Drug Dependency Treatment Hospital

Foto

The filmmakers Stephen Dupont and Jaques Menasche created the film "Brothers of Kabul", broadcasted by CNN in February 2007 as part of the CNN's documentary series, World's Untold Stories.

The small psychiatric hospital is located at the Alluauldin Avenue in Kabul, Afghanistan. Further, the hospital has 40 beds for psychic patients and 22 beds for drug dependency treatment. The hospital not only offers residential based short stays, but it also provides outpatient treatments.

Although the Ministry of Public Health delivers medication, it is very limited and there is not sufficient medicine for emergency patients. The Ministry of Public Health takes care of the financial structures. A psychiatrist monthly salary, however, is only USD 54.

To help the patients and the team of this hospital we provide help in terms of necessary medicine for emergency patients, information about addiction treatments and fundraising for basic needs. Our main goals are to invite two medical doctors from Kabul to Zurich in order to show them our addiction treatment program and fundraising to finance medical supplies.
